Group Legal Council – EMEA

Choralis Consulting have instructions to recruit a Group Legal Counsel- EMEA

The company:- is a global corporate technology business with locations all over World. The Group generate revenues to £600m with their European H/Q business based Slough, Berks.

The role:- Reports to the VP of Corporate Planning and is responsible for providing in house legal advice in respect to the operating practices and procedures across a number of countries within the EMEA region. Principal responsibilities will be commercial law within the EMEA region and managing a wide variety of ad hoc corporate and commercial legal matters. Recruit, lead and develop a small team to effectively and efficiently deal with all legal and compliance issues across the EMEA region;
Managing external council relationships, strategy and resolutions, daily interaction with leadership teams across the group and other managers in Japan, effectively identifying business issues that will effect strategy and minimise legal and compliance risks;
Negotiate, drafts and reviews across a variety of contractual agreements, evaluate and provide advice on complex issues and transactions which have pan-national and pan regional reach. Provide proactive counsel to protect the company against legal and compliance risks arising in various jurisdictions;
Manage export control compliance of the group; ensuring compliance with US, EU and Japanese regulations

The candidate:- Fully qualified and admitted to practice law in the UK with a minimum of 5-8 years' legal experience, including at least 4 years in an in-house role working in a fast-paced corporate environment. With strong influencing and persuasive communication skills, fluency in other languages useful. Possess excellent people skills, manage internal client local issues on a global basis. A proactive, ideas' person commercially astute, with the presence, gravitas and leadership to represent the business across EMEA regions
